Back to Good Karma

Welcome Friends! Here is a place for teachers, parents, librarians and writers to learn what's going on in the world of book author Karma Wilson.

Summer!

I’m back after an embarrassingly long absence. I’m in this difficult adjustment period leading up to “empty nest syndrome”. My oldest is almost 18 and we are helping him prepare for college, navigate high school, etc… Add to all that the fact that I am almost 40. Oy. Can anybody say, “Big life changes”.  I have struggled this last year with inspiration (or should I say “lack of inspiration”).

But summer is here now, a sunny respite from the hurry and worry of life. And with the summer months has come a refreshing rush of creativity and renewed sense of purpose. Part of that purpose is staying more connected with my readers and focusing on creating.

Tomorrow I will post some news about my upcoming book “The Cow Loves Cookies” which will be released in early July. I am very excited about this book, and I hope you all enjoy it. It is fast becoming a favorite read aloud during school visits. Kirkus gave it a starred review!

I’m glad to see you “back”, Karma! I have missed you. Can’t wait to read the cow loves cookies!! My oldest son started college last fall. . . I won’t say the transition was easy for me. He loves college but I miss him!! Thank goodness for email, cell phones and text messages. You WILL survive!

Hi Karma! I love your books! I can’t wait to read your lastest book about the cow who loves cookies. Any chance “Bear” will have a new story in the future?

  3. I’m closing in on that birthday milestone too … it’s still a half-year away, but ‘oh my’! And, an 18-year old who’s off to college (mine are 7 and 4 … so that’s still a ways off) … wow, what exciting times. I have no doubt your upcoming book is going to be marvelous … am looking forward to it!

  5. I am just now finding this. My toddler and I, Mr. 4T, are huge fans, having just discovered the Bear series at our local library. In fact, my lap is just cooling off after the latest reading of “Bear Snores On” mere moments ago.

I have four boy cublets (21, 17, 12, and 4), and can so identify with your struggle with the empty nest. Our oldest one just moved away to live on campus for the first time this summer (he’s a junior) and – oy vey! What a sea change. We all miss him terribly. When the weekly column addressed that particular life change, people cried along with me and let me know they could identify.

It’s a huge step, but hopefully it’s been a smooth transition for you.

    Waving and smiling,

    Rhonda

  6. Thank you, I’ve just been searching for information about this topic for ages and yours is the best I have discovered till now. But, what about the bottom line? Are you sure about the source?

  7. I enabled comments on my blogger page but it only shows the comments link, and when it’s clicked, a new page opens to show the comments. Is there a way to just have the comments show on my main page right underneath the blog, I don’t want just a link to the comments page..

  8. Hello! I’ve been following your weblog for some time now and finally got the bravery to go ahead and give you a shout out from Houston Tx! Just wanted to mention keep up the great job!
