Back to Good Karma

Welcome Friends! Here is a place for teachers, parents, librarians and writers to learn what's going on in the world of book author Karma Wilson.

Pip…atta girl!

Where is Home, Little Pip? has been released and is doing quite well. I browsed some customer reviews at Amazon and people are universally calling Pip a he. But Pip is actually a girl. Funny enough, she started as a he when I first thought of her, but I decided that I needed a good female character since all the bear characters are boys.

I guess she needs a bow in her hair. Reminds me of when my daughter was a baby with little-old-man hair. She would be decked out in pink with roses and people would say, “What a cute little boy!” ha ha ha!

Hope everybody is having a terrific fall. It is GORGEOUS here. The aspen are at peak color.

I am so behind on email. If you have written me please be patient. Life is in my way! :)

K….

She couldn’t be more girlish, friend! (Nor could C, by the way.) I received my copy this week and am madly in love. Madly. I can’t even stand to put her on the shelf yet. Nicely done.

I recently reviewed your Pip book on amazon and I noticed the same thing about Pip being turned into a “he”. I referred to her as a she, but penguins kinda just come off as genderless, I guess? *shrug*
We just received Bear Stays Up and we LOVE it!!! Keep up the great work!

My husband actually changes all of the “she’s” to “he’s” when we read this to our baby boy Pip (which originated from grandma’s desire to have a granddaughter she nicknamed Pippa). :)

Keep up the fabulous work, and hopefully there will be more Pip stories in the future!
