Exciting news! Bear Feels Sick, has been chosen as the one-book, one-state book for Kansas Reads to Preschoolers!
Kansas Reads to Preschoolers, a project of the State Library and chaired by Governor Kathleen Sebelius, is an annual event to highlight the importance of reading to young children. The event is held the week before Thanksgiving (November 16-22), and the goal is that every child in Kansas will be read to! Librarians, teachers, and others around the state make a special effort during this week to involve their community in this “big read” and plan programming around it.
Not only that, but Hilda Must Be Dancing was nominated for the 08-09 California Young Reader Medal.
What wonderful news! I’m really excited.

Karma, I’m with Traci. It’s good to know our state knows good books.
I just visited your photography site and the new photos are as beautiful as the rest of them. You’re a true talent in so many areas. I just love your books and your photography.
Thanks for blessing us with them.
